Faigh Ar Ais

An Introduction to Irish Traditions

Faigh Ar Ais (pronounced F-eye Air Ash) simply means 'to get back again' or 'retrieve', and is a correspondence course which came about due to the volume of interested and inquiring emails and letters we have received, from people who are looking for honest and responsible guidance as they walk their path of Irish magic, spirituality, or heritage. It was designed for those of you who would like to begin the journey of retrieving or re-creating a personalised modern system of Irish magic and spiritual practice.

Now, sorry as we are to disappoint those of you want it, we must make it clear that completing this course does not automatically make you a card carrying 'Irish Witch'. Though you receive a certificate of completion and a final review of your overall progress once you're done, no degree or status is conferred on you simply because you did the course. Lora O'Brien (nor anybody else for that matter) cannot and would not turn you into into a witch of any description by means of post or email. That, as with most worthwhile things, is entirely your responsibility.

What this course will do, if tackled and completed with honesty, integrity, and diligence, is give you an excellent grounding in Irish traditions and heritage; an insight into the source material which we as modern students of Irish magic and spirituality have available to us, as well as guidance on how to incorporate these ideas into your own practices. Those of you who have read the book, Irish Witchcraft from an Irish Witch, will understand that Lora is not one for holding anybody's hand, so expect to work hard to achieve your goals. However, you can also expect valuable advice, honest feedback and assessment, and a sound understanding of the heritage of Ireland.

This course presumes a basic understanding of the principles, beliefs, and history of modern Paganism and Witchcraft. If you do not have any experience in these matters, it is recommended that you complete the So... You want to be a Witch? correspondence course first, in order to fully benefit. This is not a requirement, but those who have completed the other course will get preference when applying for this one, should there be a shortage of space. Though this Faigh Ar Ais course is designed primarily with the modern Pagan magical student in mind, people of any faith, spiritual practice, or none at all would benefit from taking it - the main common factor being an interest in Irish history, heritage and traditions.
